Study Spanish in Guatemala

La Democracia Spanish School offers 1 on 1 private Spanish lesson from our local school located in Quetzaltenango Guatemala.

Class Structure: Classes are generally 4 hours daily (Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) with a fifteen minute coffee break in between.  Afternoon classes are also available upon request.  Afternoon Classes: 4 hours daily (Monday – Friday, 2:30 pm to 6:30 p.m.) with a fifteen minute coffee break. 

We are closed for the following holidays, but there are special celebrations throughout the city: Jan 1 (New Year), Thur & Fri of Easter week, Sept 15 (Independence Day), Nov 1 (Day of Dead), Dec 25 (Christmas).

Spanish for Travelers:

This program will focus on communicating basic things such as: Checking into a Hotel, Inquiring about Prices, Arranging travel arrangements via a Bus, Taxi, etc., Asking directions, and of course the most important part, being able to ask for and order food, etc. The goal of this program is to equip you with the skills to engage in polite conversation and obtain the necessary information in order to enjoy your travels through Latin America.

Intensive Spanish Programs:

This program is designed to take you to the next level. You can begin in this program with zero knowledge of Spanish and end the program fluent! You may tailor this program to suit your needs. You may need to focus on grammar, writing, and pronunciation or you may have extensive training in grammar and wish to focus on conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, and slang. Graduates from this program will receive a diploma indicating the level of Spanish obtained. Our full program, covering all aspects of grammar, is 12 weeks, but more advanced students may cover all necessary material in a shorter amount of time.

University Credit:

If you are a university student and are looking for credit for a semester of Spanish, we will work with your university to make sure that you accomplish the required objectives for your course.

Spanish Courses for Families and Children:

Our Family Program is designed to meet the needs of the parents wishing to study in our immersion program with their children participating in classes as well. This program is designed for parents with children 4 yrs old and up. It engages the child in a one-on-one teaching experience utilizing various exercises and games, thus immersing the child in a fun and effective Spanish learning environment.

Learn to Teach Spanish:

Our staff has extensive experience in preparing Spanish Teachers. This program prepares the student to teach Spanish using the immersion method. Advanced level students only. For a complete course, you will need a minimum of 12 weeks of classes.
